All are welcome!
Seeing a show is the easiest way to get involved with the theatre. Long-time theatre lovers and first-time attendees of all ages are welcome to join us to watch our talented young cast and crew members! All-of-us Express Children's Theatre's youth participants work hard to put on each production, and they want to bring joy to the community through their performances. Families will beam in pride whether watching a first grader make their stage debut as a flower, a ten-year-old in their first speaking role, or a teen shining in a leading role. Friends and neighbors will watch in awe as that shy little third grader belts out a song in a summer musical. Community members will love learning about this gem in the heart of East Lansing.
young children & the theatreThe beauty of children's theatre is that children are welcome; live theatre is a wonderful, communal experience that we hope everyone can enjoy. AECT shows are family-friendly (unless recommended ages are listed in announcements), so bring your toddler or preschooler for their first experience with live theatre! Little ones love watching older siblings or neighbors on stage, and there is a meet-and-greet with the cast and crew after each show so audience members can interact with them (and maybe even get an autograph!).
We completely understand that this may be your four-year-old's first live show and he may comment loudly on a character's sudden appearance or a lighting effect. We get that your toddler might have a bout of the wiggles while watching her big sister on stage. If it gets to be too much and your little one just needs a break, you and your child are welcome to head to the lobby for a breather. |

Other show informationMost productions run at or under two hours and include a 15-minute intermission. Concessions are available for 30 minutes prior to curtain and during intermission, but must be consumed in the lobby prior to re-entering the theater. Visit the merch table to bid in the silent auction for an autographed show poster, pick up a show pin, get a last-minute rose to congratulate a young actor, and check out show-specific and AECT merchandise.
The lobby information table displays brochures and flyers about AECT's upcoming events, the Board of Trustees, volunteer opportunities, and more; and staff and board members are always available to answer questions. |
