19th Season
2007/2008

At All-of-us Express Children's Theatre our mission is doing theater. Along the way we teach responsibility, self-esteem and many practical life skills. When you watch one of our shows, you see not only the children on stage, but the result of much effort behind the scenes by young people who work on all phases of every production, from auditions through to the final clean-up. The show you watch is run by student Assistant Directors and students on the Costume, Makeup, Props, Lights and Sound crews. It's their show!

Show and audition dates and times should be considered tentative; it is always possible that changes might have to be made. Please check back closer to the event to confirm dates, times and locations. Season flyer (PDF).

Season of Quests

Fall 2007: Beauty and the Beast - Quest for Freedom

As punishment for rebuffing a powerful witch, a selfish prince becomes a true 'beast' until someone loves him for himself. Many years later, a poor widow stumbles onto the castle and innocently plucks a forbidden rose. The Beast sentences her to death, but first allows her to return home and bid farewell to her family. Her two unpleasant daughters and her nasty sons-in-law hear her story and think she's crazy. But her third daughter, Beauty, agrees to go to the castle and stay with the Beast if her mother's life is spared.

Adapted from the classic fables of Giovani Francesco Straporola & Madame Leprince de Beaumont by Vera Morris. Produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., P.O. Box 4267, Englewood CO 80155.

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" You know the reply to that, and soon you'll be caught up in the spell of this enchanting classic. The vain and wicked Queen seeks to destroy her rival in beauty. The Dwarfs are obstinate, generous, mean, kind, and totally appealing. The Prince is a true Prince, sometimes foolish, always brave, and Snow White is as lovely and lovable as legend says.

Dramatized by J. Michael Straczynski. Produced by special arrangement with Baker's Plays, 45 W. 25th Street, New York NY 10010.

Spring 2008: The Jungle Book - Quest for Imagination

April 25-27 & May 2-4 2008, at Lansing's Riverwalk Theatre. Shows are 7:00 pm Fridays and 2:00 & 4:30 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets available beginning March 24, 2008, priced $5.00 children / $7.00 adult (16 & up), from the Riverwalk Theatre box office (482-5700).

Young Rudyard Kipling is sent from his home in India to a British boarding school. There he finds his own 'jungle' in which people parallel his animal creations. Whether it is in the wilds of India or in school, everyone learns of the struggle of good versus evil, the worth of friendship and the importance of loyalty; as well as other values required for surviving under "the law of the jungle."

Adapted by Joseph Robinette, from the book by Rudyard Kipling. Presented by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois. Produced by All-of-us Express Children's Theatre in cooperation with Riverwalk Theatre.
