All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre Announces 22nd Season Lineup

10-151
July 1, 2010

EAST LANSING, Mich. - All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre has
announced the lineup for its 22nd season, which runs September
2010-August 2011. The following shows will be brought to the stage:

* “Time Machine” - This H.G. Wells classic story was adapted for
the stage by Tim Kelly. “Time Machine” tells the story of Filby, an
eccentric inventor who creates a machine that travels through time. In
an attempt to share his invention with some of science’s greatest
minds, Filby and his cook, Mrs. Watchett, are transported to the future.
But getting back to their own time proves to be a challenge. The two
races of people in the future are much different than the folks back
home. The Eloi, who live above ground, are not versed on such things as
time travel and the Morlock, who live below ground, are more intent on
having the technology for themselves than helping Filby use it to get
back home. Show Times: Nov. 5 and 12, 2010 at 7 p.m.; Nov. 6 and 13,
2010 at 2 and 4:30 p.m.

* “Pixies, Kings and Magical Things: Four Tales by Hans Christian
Andersen” - Four of Andersen’s classic tales; “The Swineherd,”
“The Pixie and the Grocer,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and
“The Ugly Duckling;” are charmingly adapted by Ric Averill into four
short plays, creating a magical evening of theater for the young, as
well as the young at heart. Show Times: February 18 at 7 p.m. and
February 19 at 2 and 4:30 p.m.

* “NigHt of tHe pterodActyls” - This classic play by Julian Wells
tells the story of a town turned upside down by the discovery of
pterodactyl eggs in a neighborhood rose garden. Twelve-year-old Carly is
the smartest person Whit has ever met, but she is obsessed with
dinosaurs. When she finds a nest of pterodactyl eggs in Mrs. Webster’s
rose garden, the National Guard has to be called out to keep away the
curious. Show Times: March 25 and April 1, 2011 at 7 p.m.; March 26 and
April 2, 2011 at 2 and 4:40 p.m.; March 27 and April 3, 2011 at 2 p.m.

* “Scheherazade” - This play, adapted by Susan Pargman from The
Arabian Nights stories, tells the story of Scheherazade, the greatest
storyteller of the ancient Arabian world. Scheherazade must use her
talents to save her people from the hot-tempered King Raynah, who has
decided to punish the women in his kingdom for his broken heart. Can
Scheherazade’s enchanted tale transform the hard-hearted king? Will
the king become a victim of his own revengeful plot? Show Times: July 22
and 29 at 7 p.m. and July 23 and 30 at 2 and 4:30 p.m.
