Board of Trustees

All-of-us Express Children's Theatre (AECT) is a community-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees elected at the annual membership meeting held each September. Officers are elected by the Board during the annual membership meeting in September.

* Youth member. By Michigan law, only two members between the age of 16 and 18 may vote at any one meeting. AECT bylaws permit youth members to be elected at age 15.

The numbers following each name indicate whether a person is in their first or second term (or is zero if appointed to fill a vacant position) and when the current term expires. Terms expire at the annual membership meeting of their final year. (See Article IV of the Bylaws for details.)

Meetings

Board meetings are open; Theatre members, parents and interested folks from the community are always welcome to attend! Meetings usually are 6:30 - 8:30 pm on the third Wednesday of the month at Hannah Community Center in East Lansing, but dates and location occasionally change. (Ask at the front desk for the meeting location.)

Committees

Comittees and their chairs are appointed by the board. A committee is either a standing (continuing) committee, or a special committee with a limited existence and purpose.

Fundraising and Grants Committee (standing)
Created at the October 2012 board meeting to conduct general fundraising, seek out donors and sponsors and apply for grants.

Membership and Outreach Committee (standing)
Created at the October 2012 board meeting to encourage membership and participation in the Theatre.
Chair: Sherry Bass-Pohl.
Nominating Committee (standing)
Required by the bylaws, its function is to encourage membership on the board, and to present nominations for board membership and board officers at the annual meeting.
Chair: vacant.
Bowling Fundraiser Committee (special)
Created at the October 2011 board meeting to plan a bowling fundraiser for fall 2012. Work on the 'Boo Bowl' for 2013 begins in April 2013.
Chair: Sandi Sigworth. Members: Renee Bieler, Linda Chamberlain, Brenda Finch, Gina Golden, Darla Harper, Kathleen Miller, Marsha Parrot-Boyle, Dorinda Vankempen.
Policy and Bylaws Committee (special)
Created at the October 2012 board meeting to review board policies and the bylaws, and present modifications for consideration.

Serving on the Board

The by-laws establish a minimum of eight and maximum of eighteen voting members of the Board. If you have an interest in serving on the Board, please speak with any board member to find out what is involved. You may be a member of a committee without being a member of the board or of the corporation. Board meetings and committee meetings are open to the general public.
